INDICATIONS
CF-related arthropathy. Rheumatoid arthritis. Only on instruction of Rheumatologist.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
Ciclosporin
Potentiates methotrexate toxicity.
Corticosteroids
Increase risk of toxicity.
Co-trimoxazole
Antifolate effect increased.
NSAIDs
Increases methotrexate toxicity. Not really a problem with low dose oral use.
Penicillin
Excretion of methotrexate decreased.
Tetracyclines
Increased risk of methotrexate toxicity.
NOTES
WEEKLY dosing — never daily. Folic acid co-prescription. Monitor FBC/LFTs.
