LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
Dear Friends, There has been a lot of activity at the ECFS since the last edition of our newsletter. The ECFS Basic Science Conference was held in Italy in March and was a resounding success, with brilliant speakers and lively discussions. The Diagnostic Network Working Group met in Brussels in February, hosted by Elke De Wachter, with excellent science and networking. We are rapidly approaching our annual conference in Milan (4–7 June). The Scientific Committee has put together an outstanding programme, with exciting new basic research and clinical trial results to discuss. Highlights include the Grand Rounds in Clinical CF, early-morning 'meet the experts' sessions, and the ECFS Tomorrow Lounge with interactive sessions. Three Young Investigator Awards and twenty travel grants have been awarded to early-career researchers. The ECFS Annual General Meeting will take place on Friday 6 June, open to all members with a valid 2025 subscription. We very much hope many of you will attend. Yours sincerely, Jane Davies

ECFS Award 2025: Pierre-Régis Burgel
The ECFS Award is given annually to honour a person who has made an outstanding contribution to our understanding of cystic fibrosis, or to the treatment and care of patients. This year's recipient is Pierre-Régis Burgel.
Allied Health Professional Outstanding Contribution Award: Chris Smith
A new award recognising an AHP member with sustained excellence or recent major impact in the CF field. Chris's contributions include international consensus statements and several textbook chapters in CF and nutrition.
Gerd Döring Award 2025
Honouring an exceptional young European scientist in early career.
Basic Science Conference 2025 — prize winners
